my meaningful morning
Each morning, my dogs sit by the bed waiting for me to wake up and take them on their walk. That’s number one on their agenda. As we step outside, the mountains are framed by trees as the morning light fills the shadowed spaces. It’s so beautiful—it takes my breath away—and the expression, ‘Lord, thank you for this place and this time with you,’ gets me centered right away. As we walk, I repeat the Jesus prayer, ‘Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ The faces of those who have asked for special prayers usually pop into my mind and I hold them in love before God. It’s such a routine thing, but it gets me away from my busy daily agenda and calms the mind and heart.
