It’s been just a few days since the Sacred Ordinary Days retreat ended, and I’m entering the first unofficial days of summer feeling nourished and refreshed.
This time of year has a way of doing that to me—that is, if I’m making room for rest and taking the time to remain present and pay close attention to what’s stirring within. For the past many years I’ve paused to ask the question “What’s growing?” in regards to my work here at A Sacred Journey and have reached out to you to so that your voice might be included in the response.
This year, though, my soul is calling me toward something different. You might have noticed I’ve been slowing things down lately. While we had a great year journeying together, to make room for my own reading I closed the Journey Book Club. In addition, the first season of the Sacred Ordinary Days Podcast is winding down (look for our “sending” episode—recorded together and in person!—next Wednesday on iTunes), and while I’ve so enjoyed journeying with Jenn (and you!) through the liturgical seasons this past year, I look forward to seeing where Jenn takes the podcast in the subsequent seasons as I step away and instead become a listener alongside you.
In the wake of the feast of Pentecost, I am reminded of the words of Christ describing the movement of the Holy Spirit—our Sacred Guide:
The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. (John 3:8)
This past year has been a liminal one, and I’m feeling that wind. And so, I’m going to sit right down in the summer grass and feel its breeze. I’ll be spending the summer away from blogging, newsletters, and social media, and will instead be spending my time immersing myself in the wisdom of my journey guides and spiritual midwives, meeting with directees, listening in my garden and on my daily walks, and discerning the direction of this new breeze.
While I’m away, the Journey Shop will be open, and if you’re looking for a little guidance you can still participate in my 31 Days to a Meaningful Morning online course (on sale for just $20 through June 1, 2016!) or find my book, Pilgrim Principles: Journeying with Intention in Everyday Life, on Amazon. There’s no doubt I’ll be spending time with my Morning Ritual and Rule of Life, too, so in a way I’ll be journeying right beside you. I’ll also be posting here and there on Instagram if you want to follow along.
Until then, blessings on your journey these next few months. I’ll see you in September!
